Taylor Swift makes landing at Superbowl

Despite early concerns about limited availability, Taylor Swift has secured parking for her private jet for Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, where her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs won for a second straight year.

FOX Business spoke to Jet Agency CEO Jordan Brown before the game about the logistics of Swift’s trip from Tokyo where she was performing her Eras Tour to Las Vegas for the big game.

"I think it's incredible that with a private airplane, she can leave Tokyo and make it to Vegas on time," Brown told FOX Business. "It would be nearly impossible with commercial. After her concert, it's kind of an odd hour to depart."

Private Jet Traffic Surges in Las Vegas

The Super Bowl LVIII weekend saw a significant number of private jets, estimated at up to 1,000, arriving in Las Vegas. The event led to an increase in air traffic, with the Federal Aviation Authority noting an expectation of 3,500 extra take-offs and landings. The congestion affected local airports including Harry Reid, North Las Vegas, and Henderson, all of which prepared extensively for the influx.

Despite the high volume of aircraft, this year's private jet arrivals were nearly 30% less than in previous years, sparking discussions on the factors influencing these numbers. Past Super Bowls have shown varying levels of private jet traffic, with the event's location and the teams involved playing significant roles.

The event tested Las Vegas' capacity to manage large-scale aviation logistics, setting a precedent for future events of similar scale. While the Super Bowl private-jet record wasn't broken, the Transportation Security Administration said on Tuesday that it screened a record number of passengers at Harry Reid International Airport on Monday.

House passes big win for buying your own jet

The House of Representatives recently passed an extension for bonus depreciation, a move that allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of new and used aircraft from their taxable income immediately. This policy, aimed at stimulating investment in the aviation sector, offers significant tax incentives for aircraft purchases.

The extension is seen as a positive development for the industry, encouraging further investment by providing substantial tax savings on aircraft acquisitions. The bill now heads to the Senate, where its path forward is less clear—even with a strong endorsement by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Oregon).

“Most prognosticators would have told you as recently as a month ago that this bill was destined to die in negotiations or collect dust on a shelf if it ever got introduced. Given the sorry state of our political climate, it’s a real victory to have such strong momentum behind this bill,” said Wyden, who crafted the compromise tax package with Republican counterpart Jason Smith from Missouri.
